This was fantastic. The second book I've read in this series, gives shifters a whole new angle. In this series an alien race is composed of some kind of gelatinous material which can take on the form of other living creatures: birds, bears, even humans. They were nearly wiped out of existence when they discovered that in human form they could breed. Now is the time of the hybrids.
